Peter Goplerud to Moderate Sports Law Panel at SLA Conference

Spencer Fane attorney Peter Goplerud will speak at the 47th Annual Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) Conference, a three-day event centered on “The Athlete in Sports,” on May 13 in Los Angeles.

As part of the three-day event’s program centered on ‘The Athlete in Sports,’ Peter will moderate the panel Two Years of NIL: Legal and Policy Issues. This session will offer valuable insights into regulations for compensating student-athletes for use of their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). The panel will comprise Big Ten Conference General Counsel Anil Gollahalli, UCLA student-athlete Chase Griffin, and Kennyhertz Perry attorney Mit Winter.

At Spencer Fane, Peter serves as of counsel in the Higher Education practice. With a focus on higher education and sports law, he is a frequent lecturer and is widely published in the sports law area, including serving as co-author of one of the leading textbooks on the subject. Peter also has extensive accreditation experience, particularly within legal education, having served as chair of numerous ABA Site Evaluation teams.
