Silver Named Chair of the Maine’s Gamblng Control Board
Maine Governor Janet Mills has named Ogletree Deakins attorney Steve Silver chair of the state’s Gamblng Control Board.
Following the Governor’s nomination, the Maine Senate voted unanimously to confirm Silver to the position. By statute, the five-member Board regulates and supervises the ownership and operations of Maine’s two casinos, oversees advance deposit wagering, reviews license applications, and conducts disciplinary hearings for licensees.
In 2018, Silver taught the state’s first ever course focused on sports betting at the University of Maine School of Law. He has written extensively about gaming law issues for Vice Sports, Above the Law, and Legal Sports Report and has also been quoted in numerous national publications.
Silver has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star each year since 2017 and was included in the inaugural 2021 Best Lawyers Ones to Watch list for his employee benefits and litigation work.
