Loyola University New Orleans Names Sports Lawyer LeBlanc as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance

Loyola University New Orleans has named Chad LeBlanc associate athletic director for compliance and administration, Assistant Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Brett Simpson announced Tuesday.

LeBlanc brings 17 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics administration, including compliance positions at the NCAA Division I and Division II levels. He joins Loyola as the university prepares to transition its athletics program to NCAA Division II.

“Chad LeBlanc is an outstanding addition to our leadership team at an important moment for Wolf Pack Athletics,” Simpson said. “His experience at Spring Hill College and his law degree from Marquette University give him a strong understanding of Jesuit higher education and the values that guide our work.”

LeBlanc joins Loyola from Spring Hill College, where he served as deputy athletic director for internal affairs and compliance since 2015. He helped oversee the college’s compliance program and its transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II.

“I’m honored and excited to join the awesome team at Loyola New Orleans,” LeBlanc said. “Thank you, Brett Simpson, for the opportunity to guide another Jesuit institution into the ranks of the NCAA.”

LeBlanc served as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s compliance chair from 2016-18 and was a member of the NCAA Division II Membership Advisory Group from 2019-22.

At Spring Hill, he chaired the Athletic Compliance Committee and served as the department’s primary liaison with the NCAA and its conferences on rules interpretations and compliance matters. He also served as the college’s interim athletic director during the 2018-19 academic year, overseeing a 24-sport athletics department.

LeBlanc also was involved in securing a merchandise name, image and likeness agreement covering Spring Hill student-athletes.

Before joining Spring Hill, LeBlanc held compliance positions at the University of North Texas, the University of Tennessee and Central Michigan University. At North Texas, where he served as assistant athletic director for compliance from 2008-13, he administered a $4 million athletics scholarship budget.

A licensed attorney, LeBlanc earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School and a Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from the University of Wisconsin.

While attending Marquette, LeBlanc served on the editorial staff of the Marquette Sports Law Review. He later published research on sports law issues, including NCAA regulation and the use of gaming revenue to finance professional sports facilities.

In his new position, LeBlanc will oversee Loyola’s NCAA compliance program and work with coaches, staff, faculty and student-athletes on NCAA, conference and institutional regulations. He also will support the athletics department’s administrative and operational functions as Loyola moves toward NCAA Division II membership.
