North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Name Sports Lawyer Katreshia Louis-Verrett as Athletics Director
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has named Katreshia Louis-Verrett, J.D., its director of intercollegiate athletics, the university announced.
Louis-Verrett, currently deputy athletic director at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will begin her new role Sept. 1. She will oversee 17 intercollegiate athletics teams involving more than 300 student-athletes and nearly 50 coaches and staff members.
Louis-Verrett previously worked at North Carolina A&T from 2011 to 2017 as associate athletic director, overseeing compliance, human resources and 33 staff members, including seven head coaches. She succeeds Earl Hilton, who is stepping down after 15 years as athletic director.
Louis-Verrett has worked in college athletics for approximately 20 years. Before joining UAB, she spent five years as an assistant athletic director at Georgia Tech. She also has served on NCAA committees dealing with the administration and oversight of college athletics.
A former college athlete, Louis-Verrett competed in track and field at the University of Miami, where she won Big East championships.

Martin II said. “Katreshia is equally passionate about that commitment, as well as ensuring that our athletics teams and student-athletes have the resources, guidance and support to succeed in competition.”
Louis-Verrett takes over the athletics department as significant changes continue across Division I sports.
Following the implementation of the House v. NCAA settlement in 2025, participating Division I schools began sharing athletics revenue directly with athletes. The revenue-sharing cap is scheduled to increase for the 2026-27 academic year.
The College Sports Commission also oversees certain name, image and likeness agreements under rules established following the settlement. Issues surrounding NIL compensation, booster involvement, deal valuation, enforcement and potential legal challenges remain prominent across college athletics.
Louis-Verrett’s background includes work in NCAA compliance, NIL strategy, athletics administration and Title IX.
Her arrival also coincides with the 125th anniversary of North Carolina A&T’s football program. The school’s men’s track and field program has won consecutive Coastal Athletic Association indoor and outdoor conference championships.
