Barnes & Thornburg Fortifies Entertainment, Media and Sports Practice With Addition of Three Partners

Barnes & Thornburg has expanded its Entertainment, Media and Sports practice by adding partners Christina S. Chang, Carron Joan Mitchell and Farrah Usmani from Nixon Peabody.

Chang and Mitchell joined the firm’s Los Angeles office, while Usmani joined the Nashville office.

The three attorneys bring experience across entertainment, media, sports, intellectual property and corporate law, with practices focused on advising artists, producers, content creators, entrepreneurs, sports-related entities and media companies on commercial transactions, rights management, financing, employment and business operations.

Mitchell’s practice includes representation of recording artists, producers, athletes and emerging entertainment businesses. Chang focuses on creator economy clients, digital media companies, brands and sports teams, advising on production, distribution and intellectual property matters. Usmani’s work includes representation of artists, venues, festivals and music industry stakeholders in recording, publishing and related transactions.

The hires expand Barnes & Thornburg’s capabilities in Los Angeles and Nashville and further strengthen the firm’s national presence in entertainment, media and sports law.

The move follows broader strategic growth by Barnes & Thornburg in 2026 through multiple lateral group additions across several practice areas.
