NFL Veteran Steven Israel joins U.S. Bank Wealth Management to ‘Drive Efforts to Help Professional Athletes with their Financial Needs’

U.S. Bank has hired former NFL player and veteran financial professional Steven Israel as a wealth management consultant, expanding its efforts to serve professional athletes following the bank’s recent partnership with the National Football League.

Israel will serve as an ambassador in U.S. Bank’s athlete-focused banking and wealth management initiatives, helping professional athletes navigate financial planning, investment management and broader wealth strategies, the company announced.

His appointment follows U.S. Bank’s recently announced multi-year agreement with the NFL, which designated the bank as an official banking and wealth management sponsor of the league.

Israel brings more than a decade of financial services experience to the role. Most recently, he worked at J.P. Morgan Private Bank as an executive director and banker, advising clients on investments, lending, estate planning, philanthropy and banking strategies. His client portfolio included entrepreneurs, families, institutions, and sports and entertainment professionals.

Before transitioning into finance, Israel played 10 seasons in the NFL after being selected in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. Following his playing career, he spent more than 15 years as a football analyst for ESPN, Fox Sports and regional networks.

At U.S. Bank, Israel will also work with individuals and families on long-term financial planning. He will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Steve’s background in both wealth management and the NFL will help us better serve athletes with their unique financial needs,” Scott Ford, president of Wealth Management at U.S. Bank, said in a statement.

Israel holds a degree in economics from Pittsburgh and has also served on the board of the March of Dimes of Charlotte.
