TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE LAUNCHES ANONYMOUS TIP SYSTEM FOR WILDLIFE VIOLATIONS

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Operation Game Thief (OGT) has launched tip411, a new anonymous reporting system designed to streamline the reporting of wildlife, fishing and boating violations.
The new system allows Texans to submit tips instantly through a free Texas OGT app for iPhone and Android devices, by text message, or via a web form. The platform also allows for photos and videos to be included with tips.
“Protecting wildlife and natural resources is a shared responsibility,” said Terry Halsch, president of tip411. “Our tip411 system makes it easier than ever for the public to speak up and make a difference while staying completely anonymous.”
Since its inception in 1981, Operation Game Thief has contributed to over 600 convictions and has rewarded tipsters who aided in protecting Texas’ natural heritage. The tip411 platform enhances this legacy by enabling secure, two-way anonymous communication, allowing law enforcement to gather further information without revealing the tipster’s identity.
With this launch, Texas OGT joins other wildlife and natural resources agencies nationwide, as well as several law enforcement agencies in Texas, already successfully utilizing the tip411 system. Texas partners include Cedar Park Police, El Paso Police, San Antonio Police, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, and McKinney Independent School District, among others.
The free Texas OGT app is available for both iOS and Android devices. Anonymous tips can also be sent by texting “TXOGT” followed by the information to 847411, or by submitting a tip online through the Operation Game Thief page on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website at https://www.ogttx.org/.
