Former CLO at NCAA Joins Board of Startup, Invests in Pro Team

In anticipation of closing its Series-A funding round, CheckN (www.checkN.com), a new Social Utility App that claims it “is changing the way brands, celebrities and venues engage fans,” has appointed a new member to its board.

Specifically, it announced the addition of sports, business, and government executive Donald Remy, who is widely-known for over a decade of service in college sports at the NCAA as the Chief Operating and Legal Officer.

Given his background, Remy will play “a pivotal role in guiding CheckN’s integration throughout many platforms, including collegiate and professional sports.”

Remy has also been active in another venture this month as well.

Two weeks ago, he announced that he had “officially joined DC Power Football Club as an investor and owner. This opportunity aligned perfectly with my passion for sports and commitment to fostering excellence and innovation.

“Having a background in executive leadership in the athletics space, I was eager to contribute my experience and resources to help propel Washington, DC’s new professional women’s soccer team to new heights both on and off the field. I’m also excited to join a group of several well-respected leaders in the sports, entertainment, and business industries, such as fellow LSU alumni Angel Reese, Jason Levien, Vernon Davis, Paxton Baker, Dusty Baker, Ronnie DeVoe, Josiah Gray, Hendrix Lapierre, and many more.”
