Hogan Lovells guides NBA All Star Russell Westbrook in acquiring minority ownership of English soccer club Leeds United
A team from global law firm Hogan Lovells has guided nine-time NBA All Star Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Clippers as he acquired a minority stake in English Championship soccer club Leeds United. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Westbrook joined PGA Tour golfers Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth, who last week confirmed they had also invested in the club through 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.
Leeds United is one of England’s most prominent and celebrated clubs. It was founded in 1904 and has been a member of the Football League since 1905. The team will play the 2023/2024 season in the Championship, having been relegated from the Premier League last season.
New York Office Managing Partner Michael Kuh led the Hogan Lovells team with support from senior associate Emma Dowell (Northern Virginia).
