Stinson’s Sports Lawyer Aalok Sharma Talks Esports in Minnesota Lawyer
Stinson LLP Partner Aalok Sharma is featured in a recent Minnesota Lawyer article, “Breaking the Ice: Sports entertainment practice ‘doesn’t feel like work.'”
The article highlights Sharma’s legal practice, including the unique and challenging aspects of his work.
“People think esports is just electronic sports. It’s a discrete issue within my entire practice, which is what I would call emerging sports tech,” Sharma said. “It’s a broad practice that touches on all sorts of legal issues.”
Sharma also provides insight into his personal interests, including current video games he’s playing and sports content he’s reading. He shares the best way to start a conversation with him, saying, “Tell me about the game you watched last night. Or tell me what video game you’re playing these days.”
Sharma is the former chair of the Sports Division of the ABA Forum on Entertainment and Sports and was named a leading sports lawyer of the next generation. He has experience in managing protracted litigation in sports, construction, finance, health care, automotive, retail and manufacturing industries. Sharma counsels his clients on matters relating to the future of sports, including esports, sports technology, legalized sports wagering and integrity.
