Greenberg Traurig’s Dana Hooper Procures Nike Deal for Pro Soccer Player

Dana L. Hooper, a shareholder at the global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP‘s Phoenix office, negotiated and secured an endorsement contract with Nike for professional soccer player Carson Pickett. Pickett stars as a defender for the Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League in the U.S. and forward for Brisbane Roar in Australia.

A native of Fleming Island, FL, Pickett played starting defender in college for the Florida State Seminoles and helped lead the team to their first NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. She began her American professional career at Seattle Reign FC before joining the Orlando Pride in January 2018. Pickett was born without a left hand and forearm, and this year became the subject of a viral Instagram photo which showed her playfully “fist-bumping” a 2-year-old boy also missing his left arm and hand. Pickett was also recently named a “Shero” by FIFA®

This month, Nike signed Pickett to represent the brand not only in soccer, but as an “Adaptive Athlete.”

“Signing with Nike has been a dream come true. I love the brand’s focus on diversity and showcasing individuality,” Pickett said.
